Treating Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) and Posterior Blepharitis

Traditional treatments for meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and posterior blepharitis include warm compresses and good lid hygiene — using antimicrobial lid wipes, or washing eyes regularly with diluted baby shampoo, or other gentle cleansers. Although warm compresses and good lid hygiene continue to be important therapies, there are now newer treatments, like intraductal meibomian gland probing, that can improve comfort, and can even reverse the course of the disease.
