Ivermectin, Topical

In late 2014, the FDA approved Soolantra, a topical cream, for the treatment of acne rosacea associated with demodex mites. Ivermectin, the active ingredient in the cream, has both anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic activity. The basis for the cream is Cetaphil moisturizing cream.

An ophthalmic version has not yet been approved in the United States.
